Description
Elegoo has established itself as one of the world's best-known LCD 3D printer manufacturers. With their Mars series, they achieved a very high popularity due to the unbeatable price / performance ratio. Now, after the Mars 2 Pro, they are bringing out a more cost-effective model Mars 2 for beginners, which also has a 6-inch monochrome LCD. The monochrome LCD enables much faster printing speeds and is much more wear-resistant than normal LCD displays.
2K monochrome LCD
The Elegoo Mars 2 has a 6-inch monochrome LCD display. With this new technology, the Mars 2 creates unbelievable printing speeds, so that it only needs 1-2 seconds per layer - compared to conventional LCD 3D printers with 7-8 seconds per layer.
The monochrome LCD is also thermally stable and has a much longer service life than conventional LCD displays. You can print with it for over 2000 hours!
In addition, thanks to the larger LCD display, the Mars 2 also has a slightly larger installation space of 129 x 80 x 150 mm.
New imaging unit
The brand new light source structure offers a more uniform UV light emission and works very well with the 2K Monochrome LCD. The printing details and precision are vastly improved and the 3D printed models come out wonderfully.
Multilingual user interface
Mars 2 now supports 12 different languages, so customers all over the world can use the 3D printer more conveniently and without obstacles. The following languages are available:

New platform for better adhesion
Compared to the Mars Pro, the Mars 2 has a new platform surface. The surface is a bit rougher and ensures improved adhesion of the 3D prints on the platform and more stable success rates.

This machine is great. It's easy to use, even with all the precautions you need to take due to the resin.
As this was my first 3D printer, I expected to make mistakes as I learned the process. Sure enough, the first print failed due to the build plate not being locked in place. Lesson learned.
The main cause of any print failures now is the supports. There's an awful lot of information available on how to angle and support models for a successful print. That is the real learning process.
So far the Elegoo Mars 2 has performed brilliantly, producing really crisp prints in a reasonable time.
The only issue I had was with the instruction booklet that came with the machine. It's for the Elegoo Mars 2 Pro. Same internals, build plate size etc. But it would appear that the user interface is slightly different, so the instructions on which menu options to choose for levelling the build plate didn't make sense. Anyway, the Mars 2 interface is simple enough that I worked it out without too much problem.
