Description
BuildTak is proud to announce the latest addition to the 3D printing product line - the BuildTak FlexPlate System!
The company's goal is to make the 3D printing experience as easy as possible. The three-part system was specially developed for this purpose.
The system consists of three components. The BuildTak FlexPlate, the unique magnetic mounting base and BuildTak film. The combination makes removing the models from the construction area easier than ever.
How does the FlexPlate system work?
The magnetic holder must be glued to the building board. Then the BuildTak film is glued to the FlexPlate.
The Z-axis must be re-adjusted once to compensate for the extra thickness of the FlexPlate system. Then the printing process can be started.
Once printing is complete, simply remove the FlexPlate and bend until the model releases from the build plate.
The FlexPlate system includes:
- 1x BuildTak Film
- 1x BuildTak FlexPlate
- 1x BuildTak magnetic bracket for the building board

Good option for a homebuild 3D printer
Rated with 4 out of 5 stars.
I was struggling to find an up to date build surface option for my experimental IDEX printer which has a generic PCB heated bed. The 300 x 200m bed seems to be a rarity these days.
The BuildTak FlexPlate system certainly fits the bill. The Buildtak surface works well with PLA, PLA+ and PETG (so far) although easily damaged if the print head is too low. Being steel, the FlexPlate itself is easily sensed by the PINDA2 probe even at 3.3 volts. Finished prints are fairly easy to remove if printed with the correct Z height - although not quite as easy as the textured PEI surface which I'm more used to.
The magnetic surface is so far working well, although only tested up to 85 degrees C.
Delivery from the EU to the UK was pretty rapid and although, th e product seems expensive, the value for money seems good although time will tell as we see how well the BuildTak surface holds up to the day-to-day rigors of home 3D printing.
All in all a good product - if you can find one that fits your heated bed size.
Now all I need is a spare FlexPlate or two...Was this rating helpful? (2) (0)

BuildTak FlexPlate System
Rated with 5 out of 5 stars.
Been using standard Buildtak on and off for years, and have found on occasion that getting prints (especially ABS) off can be somewhat of a challenge. The FlexPlate system solves this very nicely as once the print bed has cooled completely, it can be removed from the printer and then flexed to pop the print off with using an sort of scraper reducing the chances of damaging the print surface. The magnets and adhesive on the build surface seem to be holding up to being run at a bed temp of 105C with no problem at all.

To strong adhesion
Rated with 1 out of 5 stars.
Dont waste money on it. It is too expensive. After two builds it will damage surface because its sticks to it so strong, and once you lift up the model it will take together with piece of surface and you will never have flat surface anymore. Adhesion is really good and it became a problem
